Billing
Billing is done on a monthly basis for
all consumers (except seasonal
accounts). Monthly bills are mailed out to members around the 5th
of each month. Payment is due by the 20th of the same
month. A penalty charge of 5% is added to all accounts for
payments received after the 20th of each month.
For seasonal consumers the
annual bills are mailed out about the 5th of May and are due by May
20th. A penalty charge of 5% is added to all accounts for
payments received after May 20th.
Seasonal accounts are billed:
(1) the cost of facilities charge for the next 12 months, and (2) the
total KWH of electricity used in the past 12 months. The annual
billing year begins on May 1 of each year and continues through April
30 of the following year.
An account which comes on this rate between May 1
and October 1 shall pay the full facilities charge.
An account which comes on this
rate between October 1 and May 1 shall pay one-half the facilities
charge.
Budget Billing is offered to all
residential members who have been on-line for more than one year and
have electric heat or other high usage equipment. The member must
continue to read the meter on a monthly basis and submit payments
by the 20th of each month of avoid meter reading fees and penalty
charges.
Failure to meet these and other requirements will result in the return
to regular monthly billing.
For seasonal accounts, a coupon system is available
whereby quarterly payments can be made instead of one annual
payment. Contact our billing department for addition information
regarding this program.
At Sullivan County REC, residential
members read their own meters. This procedure does two (2)
important things:
First,
by reading your
meter you help to hold down the cost of providing electrical
service.
Second,
reading your meter
on a regular basis makes you aware of the amount of power you use and
any fluctuations in use.
On the right
side of each bill, there is a place to enter your current meter
reading. Record your meter reading accurately in the boxes show and
return it along with your payment to the cooperative by the 20th of the
month.
Each electric bill will be
based upon the prior month's meter reading. Remember to read your
meter and forward the reading to the office on a regular basis to
insure an accurate electric bill. The cooperative checks meter
readings on a periodic basis.
Note: If you are
a seasonal consumer, your meter will be read by the cooperative on an
annual basis during the month of April. If you are a large power
consumer or have a demand meter, your account will be read by the
cooperative around the 15th of each month. Due to their
complexity, these demand meters must be read by cooperative employees.

Automatic
Bill Payment (Auto
Pay)
Writing a check may be
inconvenient for you. You may be away from home frequently making
regular bill payments difficult. If this is the case, you may
want to consider our Auto Pay program. This program pays your
electric bill automatically each month by deducting your payment from
your checking or savings account.
A bill will still be mailed to you around the 5th of the month so you
will know the amount deducted. Payment is deducted on the 20th of
each month or the Monday following the 20th if the 20th falls on a
Saturday or Sunday. You still need to read your meter. You
have the flexibility of choosing from a wide variety of ways to send in
your meter reading. You can return it with your bill stub, call
the office with the reading, use the auto read program or email your
meter reading to us at: screcbilling@epix.net.
