Billing Terms and Definitions

Outages: If an outage occurs please call 570-924-3418 or 1-800-596-8397.  Before you call, please check your fuses/breakers, and check with your neighbors to see if they have power.  If the outage is your problem because of fuses/breakers, you could be charged an outage fee.

Basic Charges: The charges of generation, and distribution.

Generation Charges:  Charge for the production of electric generation.  Generation prices, and charges are set by your cooperative or other electric generation supplier you have chosen.  These charges depend on the terms of service between you, and the supplier.

Non Basic Charges: Any category of service not related to the basic charges explained above.  These charges include security lights, AMR meters, new service, and collection fees, etc.

Facilities Charge:  Part of the monthly distribution charge.  This amount is the same each month regardless of how much electricity you use.  The facilities charge is based on the total cost of our substations, poles, wires, transformers, etc.

Kilowatt-Hour (kWh): kWh is a measure of electricity.  One kWh equals one thousand watts used for one hour.  If you used one 100-watt bulb for ten hours, then you will have used one kWh.

Price to Compare:  Kilowatt-hour price to provide generation of electricity.  A member can realize possible savings by acquiring energy from another supplier whose price is lower than the Price to Compare.

Bad Check Charge:  A $20.00 fee will be charged on all checks returned from the bank.

Meter Reading Fee:  A $25 meter reading fee will be charged to members who do not read their meter two months in a row.  Please write down all five digits from your meter on the front of the return stub in the space provided.

AMR Meter: A $2.00 monthly fee is charged for those members who wish to have an automated meter reading meter, and those who do not read their meter on a regular basis.  With an AMR meter you no longer have to read your meter.

Collection Charge:  A $25.00 collection fee will be charged when Cooperative employees are sent out to collect past due electric bills.  Please call the office to make arrangements on past due bills.

Disconnect Charge:  If your account is disconnected for non-payment, a $35.00 reconnection charge will be required before your account can be connected.  If reconnected after hours (3:30 p.m.) the fee for reconnection will be $150, or $75.00 if a remote disconnect is used.  There will be no reconnections after 7:30 p.m.
