Billing
Terms and Definitions
Outages: If an outage occurs please call
570-924-3418 or 1-800-596-8397. Before you call, please check
your fuses/breakers, and check with your neighbors to see if they have
power. If the outage is your problem because of fuses/breakers,
you could be charged an outage fee.
Basic
Charges: The charges of
generation, and distribution.
Generation Charges:
Charge for the production of electric generation. Generation
prices, and charges are set by your cooperative or other electric
generation supplier you have chosen. These charges depend on the
terms of service between you, and the supplier.
Non Basic Charges: Any category of service not related to
the basic charges explained above. These charges include security
lights, AMR meters, new service, and collection fees, etc.
Facilities
Charge: Part of
the monthly distribution charge. This amount is the same each
month regardless of how much electricity you use. The facilities
charge is based on the total cost of our substations, poles, wires,
transformers, etc.
Kilowatt-Hour
(kWh): kWh is a measure
of electricity. One kWh equals one thousand watts used for one
hour. If you used one 100-watt bulb for ten hours, then you will
have used one kWh.
Price to Compare: Kilowatt-hour price to provide generation
of electricity. A member can realize possible savings by
acquiring energy from another supplier whose price is lower than the
Price to Compare.
Bad
Check Charge: A
$20.00 fee will be charged on all checks returned from the bank.
Meter
Reading Fee: A $25
meter reading fee will be charged to members who do not read their
meter two months in a row. Please write down all five digits from
your meter on the front of the return stub in the space provided.
AMR Meter: A $2.00 monthly fee is charged for those
members who wish to have an automated meter reading meter, and those
who do not read their meter on a regular basis. With an AMR meter
you no longer have to read your meter.
Collection Charge: A $25.00 collection fee will be
charged when Cooperative employees are sent out to collect past due
electric bills. Please call the office to make arrangements on
past due bills.
Disconnect Charge: If your account is disconnected for
non-payment, a $35.00 reconnection charge will be required before your
account can be connected. If reconnected after hours (3:30 p.m.)
the fee for
reconnection will be $150, or $75.00 if a remote disconnect is
used. There will be no reconnections after 7:30 p.m.
