ELECTRIC USE IN THE HOME

What is a Kilowatt-Hour?
A kilowatt-hour (kWh) is a measure of electricity use.  It is based on the amount of electrical energy needed to run a 100-watt light bulb for 10 hours.  Your electric bill shows the number of kilowatt-hours you use.  Here is  an energy use chart that shows the approximate amount of kilowatts used by electrical appliances found in the average home.
To calculate your average monthly use.  Simply take the average wattage of the item, multiply it by the number of each item to determine the total average wattage used.
